The approach
to the main gate of the Ballpark in Arlington is probably the
best in the major leagues in focusing your perspective directly
at the edifice of the structure.
Once inside the
ballpark, the lower concourse ceiling is high to help dissipate
the Texas heat. As expected, the Lone Star is prominently displayed
throughout the facility.
The scoreboard
over the right field pavilion is massive.
Looking across
the pavilion's lower level, you can see the Ranger's bullpen,
and the ever so slight overhang of the upper deck past the end
of the lower deck. Also note that in order to achieve the desired
effect, support columns, partially obstructing the view of patrons
in the lower deck, are a necessity. A real retro touch, not often
mentioned in descriptions of the ballpark.
As seen above,
the Rangers bullpen is parallel to the outfield fence, while the
visiting team's bullpen in perpendicular to the fence. An unusual
feature not often seen in other ballparks where both bullpens
are typically symmetrical, or parallel, to each other.
Hopefully the
Angels in the bullpen remember to close the bathroom door when
they are doing their business. Maybe they were airing it out.
Nolan Ryan tipping
his cap (hello or goodbye, we are not quite sure which) in the
large concession / play area out beyond center field.
The corporate
name over the main gate added over the original etched one has
since come down.
