Braves
Field
During a recent trip to Boston, the staff of ebaseballparks.com took the Green Line "T" to Boston University.
As you go down Commonwealth Avenue (Comm Ave to the locals), you
will see what is left of Braves Field. Like League Park in Cleveland, there is more than a marker commemorating
the site. The right field pavilion, ticket office, and part of
the exterior wall are all still standing. The complex is now called
Nickerson Field.
The old ticket
office / administration building, as seen in this postcard,...
...is now a combination
day care / campus police building.
When we visited
Braves Field, the old exterior wall was being painted, probably
in anticipation of the upcoming commencement ceremonies for the
graduates of the class of 2000.
This view is
looking back up the block toward the ticket office, with the dead
end at my back. Below is a postcard image taken from across the
street. As the saying goes, "X marks the spot" of the
wall in view above.
Using the image
directly above as a reference, below is a current view of the
old right field pavilion, as seen through sepia toned lenses.
