Fenway
Park 7th Inning Stretch
In a game
filled with tradition, the 7th inning stretch is one facet of
baseball games that has resisted most enhancements. Yes, there
is the designated singer in Wrigley Field, and various other subtle
variations around the major leagues, but not at Fenway. There
is no public address announcement, no pre-recorded tape, just
the organ music starting up. Alas, on this night, someone ran
out of the stands in right field, hoisted 2nd base, and made it
back to the warning track before being caught by security. No
pennant for him.
