Wrigley
Field
Welcome to the friendly confines.
Wrigley Field began it's life
as the home park for the upstart Federal League Chicago Whalers.
It was only after the collapse of the league that the Cubs took
over the facility. The image below is from those pre Cubs days
when the park was still single decked.
The facade of the ballpark has
not really changed over the years, as can be seen from the postcard
image from the 1950's and a recent photo. Other than the addition
of the terrace restaurant over the roof of the lower deck, the
only other differences are cosmetic color changes.
The flags denote the league
standings. At the time that this photo was taken, the National
League was still just two division, and the Cubs are in 4th place.
