Yankee
Stadium
Farewell
To The Cathedral
Arriving on the
IRT prior to sunset before the last game at Yankee Stadium.
The countdown
counter says it all.
Prior to game
time, there are a whole host of press, including ESPN's Baseball
Tonight on the field.
The scoreboard
announcing the ceremonies to start. Because the game was nationally
televised on ESPN on Sunday Night Baseball, the ceremony was held
prior to the last game rather than after, as is usual.

"If You Knock It Down, They Will Come." Ghost of Yankees'
past (Ruth on the far right) make a final appearance. No interlocking
NY logos on these characters, uh ballplayers.
The ghost in
center field are joined by some living, legendary Yankees, and
surviving family members.
Current Yankees
joined in on the celebration with the last starting 9 (10 with
Matsui as DH) on the field as well.
Some final pregame
photos hugs and handshakes.
The first pitch
of the last game is delivered by Andy Pettite to Brian Roberts
of the Orioles.
The countdown
counter never will reach zero, to the dismay of some in the stands.
A rather large
attendance announced for the game.
Mariano River
has released the last pitch in Yankee Stadium history to Brian
Roberts, who will ground out to end the contest.
New York's Finest
ring the field to prevent fans from running onto the field, (though
two did try).
One last gathering
of the 2008 Yankees on the field.
